New Business Website
Humble Cup is a brand new coffee shop at Seven Corners in the West Bank area of Minneapolis. They offer a wide variety of coffees to suit the palate of each customer.
I was contacted by Ben Theis the owner of Skol Marketing and sub-contracted to develop the WordPress website for Humble Cup. This was a brand new business and their only marketing material at the time was a logo. They also supplied some stock photography to apply where I saw fit.
The owner wanted to have regular events at Humble Cup and the website was going to be used to promote the events. It was also very important that people be able to find the business location and contact the business as needed.
The owner found a theme that he liked, but it was not a WordPress theme and it also was not mobile responsive.
I based my home page design off of the non-Wordpress theme the owner had found that was fixed-width and featured a large image slider. I gave the website a dark wood background and a bright content area to make it stand out. I integrated social media into the website by adding links in the footer and their latest Twitter tweets on the home page.
Their location is featured in the website’s header and a Google map is embedded on the contact page to make it easy for people to find them. I also created a blog for them and separated their posts to appear on their respective pages rather than all on one blog page. That was they could promote their events and keep them separate from recipes and Ruminations. Additionally, I embedded a Calendar to show upcoming events.
